Birdwatching:
A great possibility for you who desire to watch those large colonies of seabirds around the island of Runde. Runde is the most southernmost of the big Norwegian bird islands, and has an exceptional variety of species, in fact all our sea-birds nesting in colonies are represented. Most numerous is the tourists great favourite, the puffin. There can be as many as 100 000 pairs. The kittiwake makes the second largest group and are about 50 000 pairs. Other birds represented are gannet, rundebrande, fulmar, skua, shag, razorbill, black guillemot, eider duck and shellduck. Also Eagles, falcons, hawks and raven visit this island.
